Seniors and Trileptal
Lower initial doses and caution in titration are required. Maintenance doses should be reduced, dosing intervals increased, or both in seniors with reduced creatinine clearance.
Some common side effects of Trileptal, such as sedation, may exacerbate pre-existing problems of seniors, and their greater risk of injury from falls or other accidents makes this an area of concern.
