Open trials of Trileptal in patients with carbamazepine-resistant trigeminal neuralgia have shown positive results. In one study, all cases responded within 24 hours.
A limited number of other studies evaluated Trileptal in patients with affective disorders, especially bipolar disorder, with mixed results.
